Pam, a UK resident, discusses her recovery journey for Broca’s aphasia with apraxia and how she came to find The Aphasia Center. Her biggest accomplishment in the program was gaining confidence. She was initially scared to go out but learned to do so.
The “coolest part” of the process was the kind people who “don’t care you have stroke and aphasia,” unlike people at home whom she felt she “had to learn help them.”
Her advice for others with aphasia is to “learn how to use the internet and find things, learn how to talk,” and “find new things, like choir, or run, or boat, or anything you can.”
She recommends the program and advises people with aphasia to “work on and learn how to read again and talk better.”
